Words being words - reflections being reflections

Ooh yes The Golden Globe Awards... Wasn't it hilarious? Some of you may have found it incredibly offensive, funny or incredibly irritating. Well, I like it. A lot! If the host weren't Ricky Gervais, I wouldn't have enjoyed it as much as I did.
What is so unique about this guy?
His sarcastic manner ;)
Some people get hurt by his ironic/sarcastic comments because presumably they know he is shoving the reality into their faces, in front of all the quests and millions of viewers on T.V.
Obviously he chooses not to keep quiet. However it makes me think, is it  maybe because he is British?
Think of straightness of Elton John and George Michael.. lol! This is kind of ironic itself, isn't it?
Let me put it this way. Think of the....well... bluntness in their speeches.
What about Simon Cowell, the world famous music producer, talent-spotter and the ex-judge on American Idol.
And, what is going on with CNN's Larry King's replacement Piers Morgan? He premiered on CNN the beginning of this week and even before that, say 2 weeks ago, he had a list of celebrities who he "banned" from the show. Unfortunately Madonna comes first on that list. Morgan said, "She is too vegan for T.V., we have Lady Gaga now." Whatever that means!?!?!
Rumor has it, his grudge against Madonna goes back to his early years of journalism, when no one ever knew who Piers Morgan was and at that time Madonna was busy with changing the world's perception of pop culture/music.
Back to Ricky Gervais. A fearless british actor, comedian, hosting the Golden Globes for the second year in a row. He made us realize that he is a master of words and knows his audience.
 And as I was expecting, a profound start and an end followed instantly.

Here's how it all began;

And he chose the following sentence to end the show.

"Thank God for making me an atheist"
